Circuit Splendor: Urban Android Mosaics, Series 3

“Portraiture in profile. The android surveys its horizon.”

Series 3 breaks from the frontal gaze that anchors most Circuit Splendor works, presenting the android in profile. This shift does more than change the compositional axis; it changes the portrait's relationship to the viewer entirely. The subject no longer engages; it looks elsewhere, surveying something outside the frame with a focus that reads as both purposeful and indifferent. JB uses the profile to foreground the geometric construction of the android's form: the circuit tracery of the jaw, the mosaic architecture of the brow and temple, made legible in a way the frontal view cannot achieve.
