Circuit Splendor: Urban Android Mosaics, Series 8

“Multiplicity. One face, many frequencies, all speaking at once.”

Series 8 introduces visual multiplicity. The android portrait fragments across the canvas into overlapping iterations, as though the image is being transmitted at multiple frequencies simultaneously. JB achieves this through subtle shifts in color register across compositionally equivalent portrait segments: the same face at different chromatic temperatures coexisting without resolution. The effect is somewhere between a technical glitch and a philosophical statement about identity: is the android one subject or many, a singular presence or a pattern that can be instantiated repeatedly? Series 8 holds the question open.
